An 18-year-old male was seriously injured after the car he was a passenger in left the roadway and crashed.
On October 24, 2016, at approximately 8:05 p.m., officers from North Division responded to Old Simcoe Street, north of Scugog Line 3, in the Township of Scugog, for a single motor vehicle collision. A northbound Chevrolet Corvette, driven by a 17-year-old Oshawa male, was northbound on Old Simcoe Street at a high rate of speed, when the driver lost control. The Corvette left the roadway and struck a fence and trees.
The 18-year-old male passenger was taken to a local hospital where he was stabilized before being transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre. He remains there in serious condition.
Members of the Traffic Services Branch attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The road was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
