Marijuana Thieves Caught with the Help of OPP

Two men who stole legally grown, medical marijuana were caught by the OPP in the Kawartha Lakes Region.

On Thursday, September 22, 2016, at approximately 2:12 a.m., a Brock resident witnessed a male stealing marijuana from his garden. The victim has a license to grow medical marijuana for personal use. He scared off the suspects, who fled in a waiting vehicle.

The victim got in his own vehicle and followed the suspects. He called police and provided them with the vehicle’s license plate number. The victim continued to follow the suspects until they left the Region.

Responding officers checked the area but did not locate the suspects. The OPP was updated with information about the suspect vehicle. They caught up to the suspects in Sebright, Ont., placed them under arrest and turned them over to DRPS officers.

Shane SCHNEIDER, age 29 of  Stouffville, and Jesse TRUDEL, age 29 of  Pefferlaw, are both charged with Theft over $5,000.
