DRPS Recover Stolen Snake In Oshawa

A 4’-long boa constrictor was recovered by police after it was stolen from an Oshawa couple.

On Sunday, September 11, 2016, a male attended a residence in Oshawa after responding to an online classified ad that was selling a female boa constrictor snake. The current owner of the snake helped to load the tank and reptile into the back of the male’s pickup truck. When the male went to the driver’s seat in order to retrieve money to purchase the snake, he drove off.

Investigators identified the suspect using the screen name he used online. The male was arrested and the pet was returned to its rightful owner.

James HOGG, age 22 of Grenoble Boulevard in Pickering, is charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000.

Anyone with new information is asked to contact Cst. Rabishaw of Central West Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2926.
