Canada Post, union extend mediation another 24 hours

Durham, ON, Canada / channel12

Contract negotiations are continuing between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers after the two sides agreed late yesterday to extend mediation efforts for another 24 hours.

It’s the second time the union has postponed job action since a special mediator was brought into the dispute Friday.

Canada Post has been bargaining with its employees for more than nine months, but both sides were far apart as of late last week on key issues including pension changes for new employees and pay scales for rural postal workers.
