A serious collision shut down a stretch of Highway 12 north of Port Perry for several hours today, Joe Scarpelli has the details.
Two people were sent to hospital, one by air ambulance following a three-vehicle collision south of Port Perry.

“For some reason the vehicle went into oncoming traffic, struck another vehicle head on, which rolled over, another vehicle then strikes a third vehicle.”
Police say the upside down vehicle in the ditch was the one travelling on the wrong side of the road. The driver escaped with cuts and bruises, according to police.
The silver four-door Malibu was struck while travelling on the right side of the road. Both occupants were taken to hospital. The driver suffered a fractured foot and the passenger was air lifted to a Toronto hospital with life threatening injuries according to OPP.
The driver of the white pick up truck walked away with no injuries.
“If you’re driving just be attentive, be alert, watch for traffic, use your mirrors, make sure you know what’s coming up in front of you and keep an eye on what’s behind you and just be aware of your surroundings.”
The crash happened before 6 am and shut down Highway 12 south of Scugog Line 3 for over six hours.
