Handyman Steals Cash from Homeowner

Durham, ON, Canada / channel12

Police are warning the public about a male who posed as a handyman to gain access to a home in Clarington and stole cash once inside.

On Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at approximately 2 p.m., a resident on Old Scugog Road in the Enniskillen area answered a knock at the door. The suspect said he was looking for a place to store his snowmobiles and could trade his services as a handyman in exchange for any storage fees.
After measuring a floor that needed repairs, the suspect asked to use the washroom. It wasn’t until the suspect left to get supplies that the resident realized that money had been removed from his wallet.
The suspect is described as male, white, 30 to 35 years old, approximately 5’10” and 225 lbs, wearing an NHL jersey, brown jacket and a black hat. He may have been driving a pickup truck.
Anyone with new information is asked to contact Det. Findlay of the East Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1650.
