In 1993 CHEX TV2 was launched and began originating local news and information programming. In February 2004, the station was rebranded as CHANNEL 12 with a fresh new look, logo and colours.

CHANNEL 12 is proud to be part of Durham Region and has been serving the community since 1993. CHANNEL 12 is the only local originating television station in the region and, as such, has taken on a leadership role in supporting this community. This station promotes and covers hundreds of events each year through Discover Durham and Community Cruiser. CHANNEL 12’s staff is dedicated to the Durham Region and volunteer at various charitable and community events and actively participate on planning committees.

On April 13, 2000, CHANNEL 12 became part of Corus Entertainment Inc. · CHANNEL 12’s signature program is Studio 12 News with Anchor Kate Wheeler, produced every week right out of our street level studios on Simcoe St. N., Oshawa.

· The Studio 12 News Team includes Kate Wheeler, Heather Wright, Rita Nave, Donal Beattie, Chuck Magee, Maddie-Jo Tilley, and Alex Simpson. Dan Carter is the Executive Producer.

· As a CBC Affiliate, CHANNEL 12 is able to access award winning hit programs Hockey Night in Canada, The National, Fifth Estate, Airfarce, Little Mosque on the Prairie, The Tudors and Dragon’s Den.
