More than 41 per cent of commercial motor vehicles inspected yesterday in Clarington were taken off the road due to safety concerns.
On Thursday, October 20, 2016, DRPS officers from East Division were joined by members from the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Ontario Provincial Police, Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of the Environment to conduct a commercial motor vehicle inspection blitz in Hampton.
The team, working through inclement weather, inspected 29 vehicles and took more than 41 percent of them out of service for safety violations, including improper brakes and insecure loads. A total of 24 charges were laid, including one driver charged with Driving While Under Suspension.
The Ministry of the Environment conducted an additional 11 inspections and found five violations for dangerous goods and exhaust systems.
DRPS would like to thank all of the agencies involved with conducting this blitz, which took a number of unsafe vehicles off of the road.
