Five males are facing charges after gunshots were heard at a legal marihuana grow operation in Uxbridge.
On Saturday October 8, 2016, officers from North Division were called to a property in Uxbridge used as a legal grow operation for marihuana. Employees on site reported hearing gun shots and several males arguing. One complainant also reported a male was seen on the property Friday night attempting to cut the fence. When confronted, the suspect pointed a handgun at the employee, identified himself as a police officer and then fled the scene. The employee was not harmed.
Members of the Tactical Support Unit and K-9 searched the property and located five suspects, two vehicles, a loaded .22 rifle, 52 rounds of ammunition and a replica pistol handgun.
The five males were arrested and charged.
Malcolm VAUGHAN, age 27 of Silverbirch Street, Trevor BALFOUR, age 23 of Williams Street Blake STUBBS, age 23, of Kent Street East, Joel SMITH, age 29, of Colborne Street and Derick WELLS age 29, of William Street South, all from the City of Kawartha Lakes, are charged with Weapons Dangerous to Public Peace and Trespass at Night. WELLS is additionally charged with Point Firearm and Possess Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order.
WELLS was held for a Bail Hearing, the four other accused were released on an OIC Promise to Appear with conditions.
The investigation is continuing.
