The good news continues for Oshawa as a multi-million dollar renovation was revealed today. Joe Scarpelli has a sneak peek.
Soren Gordon remembers the Oshawa Centre since it first opened its doors in 1956…just don’t ask him to admit it. Gordon went on to say he’s too old to get excited about the extension to the Oshawa Centre…but his wife Marjorie is thrilled, “I can’t wait to see all the new stores.”
The two hundred thirty million dollar make over to the Oshawa Centre is in its final stages. The new space is the size of about six and half football fields and features approximately 60 new retailers, a one thousand seat food court, underground parking, free wifi and much more. Chris Keillor GM of the Oshawa Centre says, “It’s exciting…I Think to put it in one word is exciting and it’s exciting for the community here in Oshawa and for all our new retailers…all the sixty new brands that are coming in and the existing retailers on site.”
The expansion will also create approximately seven hundred full-time and part-time jobs. Justin Zenbenko is on the hunt, “that’s actually why I’m here now…I’m looking for a job.”
Justin Zenbenko is back home in Courtice after completing school at Carlton University in Ottawa. He missed the job fair last month but is still hopeful he’ll find something.
“I just applied at Kelsey’s actually.”
The grand opening is September 29 and Keillor says “we’re going to have acrobats, giveaways, lots of fun, prizes…and those activities continue all weekend long. On the 29th to October 2nd we’re giving away $4000 per day.”
