Police are seeking to identify four male suspects who assaulted another male in Pickering early yesterday morning.
On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers in West Division responded to the area of Dillingham Road regarding a fail to remain collision involving a pedestrian. Witnesses state that the male victim was in a verbal confrontation with the suspects after leaving a bar in the area. As he walked northbound on Dillingham Road, the suspects assaulted him, leaving him unconscious on the road. The suspects got into a dark or black car and drove at the victim and the witnesses who were assisting him before fleeing the scene.
Although initial reports suggested the victim was also struck by the car as it fled, investigators now believe that his injuries are consistent with being assaulted only.
The victim was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he was treated for serious, but non-life threatening head injuries.
One suspect is described as male, black, wearing a white T-shirt and glasses. Descriptions of the other suspects are limited and investigators are checking the area for video surveillance.
Anyone with new information is asked to contact D/Cst. Fisher of the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2529.
