The Gun and Gang Unit have arrested five persons in relation to a drug and gun investigation.
On Friday, August 19, 2016 members of the Gun and Gang Unit arrested a male for trafficking in controlled substances. During his arrest the accused attempted to flee police by ramming several cruisers with his own vehicle. The accused was subsequently apprehended without injuries to the officers or accused.
The Gun and Gang Unit executed a CDSA search warrant at the residence of the accused and approximately $18,000 in cash was seized in relation to proceeds of crime.
In relation to this investigation, the Tactical Support Unit and Gun and Gang Unit executed a second warrant on Simcoe Street North and arrested two parties. A sawed off shotgun, which is a prohibited firearm, with ammunition was located at this residence by PSD Axel—a K-9 specially trained in firearm detection.
Abeeku ARHIN, age 22 of Oshawa, is charged with: Trafficking a Controlled Subtance (cocaine); Possession of the Proceeds of Crime; Dangerous Driving and Fail to Comply with Recognizance.
Cindy KERLOW, age 51 of Oshawa, and George LUND, age 31 of Clarington, are both charged with: Possession of a Controlled Substance x2 (cocaine and marihuana).
Daniel CAMPBELL-JOHNSON, age 21 of Ajax, and Kelly MENDOZA, age 21 of Scarborough, are both facing various firearm charges.
