Investigators are trying to identify the driver of a vehicle that drove directly at several teenagers in Wilfrid before losing control and resting in a ditch.

On Friday, August 5, 2016, at approximately 9:30 p.m. police were called to Brock Road in Wilfrid, west of Cannington, regarding an abandoned vehicle. They discovered a white Grand Marquis the west ditch.

Four teenagers reported they were walking north on Brock Road in the northbound lane when they heard repeated honks from a vehicle horn. They heard the vehicle rev its engine and then saw a vehicle speeding southbound toward them. The vehicle flicked on its high beams and continued accelerating directly at them.

The four teenagers jumped into the ditch on the east side of the road as the vehicle sped past. The vehicle ended up in the west ditch about 500 metres away and the driver left the scene.

Officers responded to the call, including a K-9 team, and searched the area for the driver, but no arrests were made. Investigation revealed the license plates were not authorized for the vehicle.

Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact Cst. Finley of North Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2017.
