Oshawa is no stranger to film and TV productions, but the next few weeks appear to be especially busy. Mike Green had the chance to visit the set of one production.
The set for a new film adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘It’ is under construction in Oshawa. The film is set to shoot scenes next week. But the horror classic isn’t the only production shooting in the area.
“When I heard the story I really felt that I had to tell it, I had to share it with people because it is so moving, it’s so touching.
Local filmmaker Cat Hostick has written and directed her first film, ‘The Meaning of Life,’ which just started production at Parkwood Estate in Oshawa.
“I think the biggest thing would be when I write my songs they’re my own. But acting you are taking someone else’s creation and you have to kind of find the emotions, whereas music I already know what the emotion is because I have written the song myself. That was and is still the biggest challenge for me, but I love the challenge.”
Canadian singer, Tyler Shaw is pulling double duty, he is making his film debut and writing music for the movie.
“Yeah, I’m actually writing a song for the scene we’re doing right now.”
‘The Meaning of Life’ is set to premiere in September.
