A 24-year-old Toronto male suffered fatal injuries after being involved in a single motor vehicle collision in Scugog Township last night.
On Sunday, July 17, 2016, at approximately 8:57 p.m., officers from North Division responded to Old Scugog Road near Van Camp Street in Blackstock for a collision that had just occurred. The investigation revealed that a stolen Nissan Altima was travelling northbound on Old Scugog Road when it lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree on private property. The car had been stolen earlier from a Blackstock address.
The 24-year-old male was the only occupant in the vehicle and was pronounced at the scene.
Speed and alcohol may be factors in this collision.
Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
