The Emmy nominations were revealed today… Who got snubbed… details in your Daily Scoop.
HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ ruled the Emmy nominations Thursday with a leading 23, including best drama, while a real-life epic of murder and celebrity, ‘The People v. O.J. Simpson,’ was close behind with 22. Breakthrough nominations include a best comedy series nod for sophomore ‘Black-ish,’ as well as nominations for its stars, Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross. Some snubs include ‘Orange Is The New Black’ missing from best drama series and ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ star and co-creator Rachel Bloom being left out of the best actress in a comedy series race after winning a Golden Globe and Critic’s Choice award earlier this year. The Emmys will be handed out on September 18th.
The short list for the Polaris Music Prize has been revealed. Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Emotion’ and Grimes’ ‘Art Angels’ were among the high-profile contenders, but some of the biggest sellers of the year didn’t make the cut including Justin Bieber, Drake, and the Weeknd. The winner will be awarded $50,000 on September 19.
