A 66-year-old Oshawa male was fatally injured as result of a head-on collision Monday morning in Scugog Township.
On Monday July 11, 2016 at approximately 11:40 a.m., officers from North Division were called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Simcoe Street north of Harper Road. The collision involved a beige Dodge Caravan and a blue Peterbilt transport truck pulling a loaded trailer.
Evidence indicates that the Dodge was travelling southbound on Simcoe Street when the driver veered into the northbound lane and collided with the northbound transport. The Dodge entered the west ditch while the transport entered the east ditch. The lone occupant of the transport was transported to Lakeridge Health-Port Perry via ambulance, with minor injuries.
The lone occupant of the Dodge Caravan was pronounced at the scene and has been identified as 66-year-old Brian RICHARDSON of Oshawa.
Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected and after the roadway was determined to be safe by a Durham Region road inspector.
Police are looking for anybody who was travelling that roadway around the time of the collision, who haven’t already spoken to police.
