A statue made its return to Parkwood, but hit a few roadblocks along the way.
“It’s kind of typical of anything that we do at Parkwood.”
Sometimes even a goddess can hit a roadblock. The statue of the Grecian goddess Hebe stood in the Sunken Garden at Parkwood Estate since the early 1900’s. In 2009 Hebe was vandalized beyond repair, replaced by a cement pot. Finally, 17 years later, a brand new statue of Hebe was set to make it’s highly anticipated return to the garden… until… The truck carrying poor Hebe couldn’t make it up the hill onto the Parkwood property. It was time for plan B. Hebe was transferred to a smaller crane which was able to make it past the obstacle. It was problem solved. Until… The pot Hebe was going to replace didn’t want to leave.
“We always call it Parkwood law. So we’re experiencing a little bit of Parkwood law today.”
“It’s just part of what it’s like to be at a not for profit charity.”
