Three people are facing charges after returning stolen merchandise to a Bowmanville Walmart in exchange for gift cards.
On Sunday June 26, 2016, just before 10 p.m., a loss prevention officer at the Walmart on Highway 2 in Bowmanville observed two males placing items from the trunk of a vehicle into bags. One of the males and a female then entered the store and returned the items for gift cards.
Officers attended and stopped the first male and the female as she returned to the vehicle. The second male was stopped inside the Walmart. A search of the vehicle revealed stolen property and a number of gift cards and pre-paid Visa cards, including several from various retail stores in Cobourg, Peterborough and Belleville.
Adrielle ELMALEH, age 29, of Etobicoke is charged with Fraud Under $5,000 and Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Marihauna. Sacha SEEPAUL age 30, of Etobicoke is charged with Fraud Under $5,000. Jason TRITES, age 35, of Toronto is charged with Fraud Under $5,000. All three were later released on Undertakings with conditions.
