Two males face assault and forcible confinement charges after police responded to a disturbance call in Whitby that reportedly involved a weapon.
On Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at approximately 9 a.m., officers from Central West Division responded to an apartment building on Hickory Street South regarding a disturbance call. The original caller stated that a handgun had been seen inside the apartment unit. Officers arrived to find two victims who had been assaulted and held inside the unit after consuming a quantity of narcotics with two males they had met the night before.
The DRPS Tactical Support Unit attended and arrested one suspect outside the unit, while the second suspect was arrested inside after TSU members gained entry. Detectives later executed a search warrant at the unit but did not recover a firearm.
Donovon WILSON, age 50, of Whitby and Joshua BEWLEY, age 25, of No Fixed Address, are charged with: Assault; Assault Cause Bodily Harm; and Forcible Confinement. Both were held for bail hearings.
