Clarington’s Planning Services Department has released the Municipality’s 2015 Growth Trends Report on Tuesday. The report says that Clarington’s total building permit value in 2015 increased by 24 per cent from the previous year. That’s an increase of more than $70 million from 2014, reaching a total of $361.9 million in 2015. In the past four years, Clarington’s residential building permits have steadily increased as compared to non-residential permits for commercial, industrial, institutional or agricultural development. Clarington’s overall 2015 residential building permit values account for 80.5 per cent of all permits issued.
“Clarington is a wonderful place to live. We are seeing more and more residential developments as people choose our Municipality to put down roots. With continued development and the extension of the 407, Clarington is also increasingly becoming a key area of interest for industrial and commercial development,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.
