Police deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) to subdue an intoxicated male who had assaulted an officer while being arrested.
On Friday, June 10, 2016, at approximately 11 p.m., pay duty officers at the Bowmanville Rockin’ Rotary Ribs and Brews assisted security staff with an intoxicated male. The male was trying to forcefully enter the event after being refused. As officers attempted to arrest the male, he struck an officer on the head. After pursuing the male on foot for a short distance, an officer deployed a CEW to subdue the male.
Justen LONG, age 18, of Oshawa, is charged with: Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest; Possession of Cocaine; Intoxicated in a Public Place and Consume Alcohol Being Under 19 Years. He was later released on an Undertaking with conditions.
