A bank in Newcastle was robbed yesterday morning and police are investigating if it’s connected to a robbery in Oshawa last Saturday.
On Monday, April 25, 2016, at approximately 10:45 a.m., officers in East Division responded to the CIBC Bank on King Avenue for a robbery that had just occurred. A male suspect entered the bank, passed a note to the teller and fled the bank on foot with a quantity of cash. Officers and K-9 searched the area with negative results.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as male, white, in his mid-30s, with medium length hair and a beard. He was wearing a black hat, a black hooded coat and prescription glasses.
Police are investigating if this incident is related to the robbery of CIBC bank in Oshawa last Saturday involving a suspect with a similar description.
