An 18-year-old male driver faces numerous charges after attempting to flee an officer early this morning in Uxbridge.
On Thursday, March 24, 2016, at approximately 1:30 a.m., an officer from North Division was travelling on Toronto Street when he spotted a westbound vehicle with a burnt-out headlight. The officer signaled the driver to stop and the suspect started to pull over, but then accelerated away at a high rate of speed. The suspect attempted to turn north onto Concession Road 6 and drove into the ditch. The suspect vehicle made its way back onto the road and spun sideways across the lanes of traffic. The officer used the push bar on his cruiser to immobilize the vehicle and the suspect surrendered.
An unsealed bottle of liquor was seized from the front seat area of the vehicle.
Michael DUNPHY, age 18, of Uxbridge, is charged with: Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Flight from Police; Young Driver – Blood Alcohol Content Above Zero; G1 Driver – Unaccompanied by a Qualified Driver; along with charges under the Liquor Licence Act. He was later released on an Undertaking.
Anyone with new information is asked to contact Cst. Brown of North Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2825.
