Two Arrests After Ajax Knife Attack

Two males armed with knives face charges after an argument led to a violent exchange in Ajax.

On Sunday, March 6, 2016, at approximately 8:20 a.m., officers from West Division responded to an apartment building parking lot on Falby Court regarding an assault in progress. Witnesses spotted a male outside a parked car in a heated argument with the driver of the car. The male kicked the car before walking away.
 
The driver exited the car, armed with two knives, and confronted the male. He pushed the male with both hands, pressing both knives against the male. The male brandished his own knife and slashed at the driver. The driver retreated to his car and drove himself to hospital where he was treated for numerous, non-life threatening slash wounds.
 
The driver was arrested at hospital after receiving treatment. The outstanding male suspect was arrested early Monday morning after patrolling officers recognized him near the Ajax Community Centre.
 
The driver,  32 year p;d Eric RICHARDS, age 32, of Whitby, is charged with: Assault with a Weapon and Possession of Weapons Dangerous. He was later released on an Undertaking with conditions.
 
32 year old Jamel SUFIAN, pf Ajax, is charged with: Aggravated Assault; Assault with a Weapon; Possession of Weapons Dangerous; and Mischief to Property Under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
