On Tuesday morning at approximately 6 a.m., DRPS responded to a collision on Mohawk Street in Oshawa. A pickup truck had left the roadway and crashed into the side of a residence. A natural gas line on the side of the house was severed in the impact. The male driver was arrested by the first officer on scene, who then ensured the occupants of the house were safely evacuated.
Roads in the area were blocked and a local school was temporarily closed as Oshawa Fire Services ensured the scene was safe. The severed gas line was repaired and the roads were reopened.
No injuries were reported.
A 21-year-old from Oshawa has been charged with: Impaired Driving and Exceed 80 mgs. He was later released on a Promise to Appear.
