DRPS investigators arrested eight people and seized more than $30,000 worth of drugs last night.
In early January 2016, members of the DRPS Biker Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit and the Drug Enforcement Unit, launched an investigation into the sale of illicit drugs from an Oshawa townhouse complex. After observing a drug transaction at the residence, officers arrested two people nearby and seized a quantity of fentanyl and cocaine.
Search warrants were executed at the address and at the Hells Angels Motor Cycle Club East Toronto Chapter on St. Clair Avenue East in Toronto.
Three occupants of the townhouse were arrested inside and 240 grams of cocaine, 13.5 grams of marihuana, 25.8 grams of cannabis resin, 12 fentanyl patches and $9,420 in cash were seized. A suspect who lived at the residence was arrested in Toronto which led to the seizure of 12.7 grams of cocaine, 20 Oxycodone pills, and $1,170 cash.
The search warrant at the Hells Angels East Chapter resulted in the arrest of two male suspects and the seizure of cocaine and oxycodone.
The estimated total of the drugs seized is $30,950 and in total, $10,590 was seized as proceeds of crime.
Steven GIGNAC, age 39, of Glen Street in Oshawa is charged with eight drug-related offences including: Trafficking Cocaine; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking; and Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000 x2.
Kimberly GIGNAC, age 42, Liam GIGNAC, age 19, and Kevin Mason, age 30, of Glen Street in Oshawa, are charged with five drug-related offences including: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000.
Robert PRESTED, age 63, of Ranstone Gardens in Toronto, is charged with: Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance.
Steven SWANSON, age 35, of Rushton Road in Pickering, is charged with: Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance.
Andrew ROBINSON, age 39, of Main Street in Clarington, is charged with: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine) and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl).
Jenny Barns, age 28, of Vail Meadows Crescent in Clarington, is charged with: Possession of Cocaine and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine).
